I will be holding a riding school during the January School Holidays. The school will be for five (5) days.  The dates for the school are from Sunday 17th January, 2010 to Friday 22nd January, 2010.

During the five days the children will be having formal riding lessons, as well as mounted games for the younger children, and ride outs and jumping for the more experienced riders.  Other activities will include Stable Management (at different levels), Care of Horse and Pony and Care of the Saddlery.

Note: Please note the criteria on the Booking Form that riders must be under a weight of 85kg.

Brockmans Riding School will be running day camps in December & January from 8.30am to 5pm at $155.00 per day. Times are flexible. Please contact Jenny on her mobile for bookings or further information.

A group of Murdoch University studentshave recently completed a ten week course of Riding Lessons, Theory Lessons and Practical Horse Management Lessons. If any other groups are interested in attending a similar course then contact Jenny for further information.

We had some sad news at Brockman's Riding School a couple of weeks back..

One of our beloved ponies, Souvenir (Souvie) recently passed away. Many children have learnt to ride on Souvie over the years and he will be sadly missed!

As a tribute to Souvie, Rosie Allen has written poem.

SOUVENIR

Souvenir is standing
At the gates of heaven now
Wont anybody let this pony in?
He’s been a true and honest worker
Teaching many kids to ride
And now his back is aching
And he is so very tired.

Souvie kicks the gate, pulls at the chain
And through the bars he puts his head
The angel came a running,
Saw Souvenir and said:
“Come in and take your rest
The pasture here is near knee high
There’s nothing but the best
No colic and no founder
No vets or farriers here
And you can roll in sand or mud
Whichever you prefer.

Go further up and further in
Your friends await you there
Sweet Jellybean and Spiderman
And that gorgeous Marie Claire”
At that my Souvies’s ears pricked up
For Marie Claire he loved
Aches all gone and young again
He galloped off to meet his love.

Now all I have are memories
Of a pony brave and bold
There’ll not be another like him,
Or so I have been told.
And when I stand beside those gates
And my life is at an end,
I’ll proudly say, just let me in,
For Souvie was my friend.

All fees from last weekends lessons (Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd February) held at Brockman's Riding School have been donated to the Bushfire Appeal in Victoria to go towards veterinary care for the horses that have been injured in the fire.

We would like to thank everyone who rode on the weekend and know that you're money has gone to a good cause.

Unfortunately due to rising costs, we will be increasing our prices as of 1 January 2009. The prices affected and their increases are as follows;

• Group Lessons (45 minutes duration). Cost is now $70 (incl. GST and Insurance) per person
• Private Lessons (45 minutes duration). Cost is now FROM $90 (incl. GST and Insurance) per person
• Private Lessons (30 minutes duration). Cost is now $75 (incl. GST and Insurance) per person
• Pony Trail Rides for 2 or more people (1 hour duration). Cost is now $65 (incl. GST and Insurance) per person
